ACTIVITIES & EVENTS

CLASSES, WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS:
Foundations of the Science of Mind - Thurs., Sept. 4 - Nov. 13, 6-9 pm
The Essential Ernest Holmes - Tues., Sept. 9 - Nov. 11, 6-9 pm
Maine Beacon 101 Seminar - Sunday, November 9, noon to 1 pm
The Power of Your Word - Thursdays, Jan. 8 - March 5, 6-9 pm

The next Foundations class will begin the week of Jan. 5. A day and time need to be established. If you’re wanting to take this basic Science of Mind class, sign up on the Activities table with your preferred time.

MEETINGS:
The Core Council meets this Wednesday, November 12, at 5:30 pm. Everyone is encouraged to attend and participate. Your wisdom is needed, welcomed and appreciated.

The Practitioner Council will meet Wednesday, December 3rd, at at 6 p.m.

The E-Team (Ecclesiastical) will meet Wednesday, Dec. 3rd, at
2 p.m. at Cheryl Squiers, 101 Webb St., Portland. This Core meets monthly to plan the Sunday Morning Celebration Services. If you’d like to serve on this Core or have input you’d like to share, contact Wil Kilroy at 415-1687 or kilroy@usm.maine.edu.

MEDITATION SERVICE:
Guided meditations are held every Sunday from 10-10:20 a.m. in the Sanctuary. Join us. It’s a great way to start the week.

EVENTS & OUTREACH:
This Friday, Nov. 14, Elaine Enoch is hosting a pot luck at her home before the USM play, The Man Who Came to Dinner. Sign up for the pot luck at the Activities table. Theater ticket info is also available on the sign-up sheet.

This holiday season, you can make a difference in a troubled teen’s life by taking part in an outreach project to benefit Long Creek Youth Development Center, one of 2 juvenile detention centers in Maine. Sherry Biegel is organizing the collection and delivery of the gifts. Please contact Sherry (892-1993 or sherrybiegel@yahoo.com) for more information.

 

CONSCIOUS SERVICE:
If you’re a member of The Maine Beacon, you can fulfill your commitment to Conscious Service by being part of a Maine Beacon Team. Speak to any Core Council member about: Ecclesiastical, Greeters, Hospitality, Office, Operations, Outreach & Events, Projection Technicians, YES!, or Bookstore teams. Remember, receiving begins with giving. AND Spirit doesn’t call the qualified, Spirit qualifies the called.

JOINING THE MAINE BEACON:
If you would like to join The Maine Beacon, be sure to attend the required Maine Beacon 101 seminar today from noon to 1. Get all your questions answered about membership.

 

CEREMONIES AND RITUALS:
Rev. Linda is an ordained minister of Religious Science and is available to do weddings or unions; memorial services or funerals; blessings for babies, adults, pets, or whatever you’d like blessed; christenings or baptisms; and other rituals or ceremonies which you desire. UPCOMING NEW THOUGHT EVENTS:
2009 Annual Community Gathering of United Centers for Spiritual Living will be in Anaheim, California, home of Disneyland, Feb. 16-19. Why not start planting the seed now to be there? Information is on the Activities table or at www.ucslevents.org/gathering. Register before Dec. 31st and save $100.
